Obiettivi formativi
Il corso mira a insegnare strategie e acquisire risorse per capire e tradurre i tratti linguistici del testo giornalistico e saggistico attraverso attività che includeranno l’analisi contrastiva, l’analisi del linguaggio figurato, le strutture grammaticali complesse e l’infrasettorialità precipua dei testi in esame.How to translate essays, authentic news and feature stories, essays, and editorials on contemporary issues through activities that sharpen students’ reading and language skills. The activities will include contrast analysis, analysis of figurative language and complex grammar structure, nuances of style and tone and aim at raising awareness of key linguistic topics and the way in which English is used by different people for different purposes.- Oggetto:

Modulo 1:Tradurre testi giornalistici e saggistica
L’esame consisterà in una traduzione scritta dall’italiano all’inglese di un testo della tipologia testuale sopra descritta e in una domanda di teoria e storia della traduzione, oltre ad alcuni quesiti di analisi testuale in inglese, nonché a quesiti in italiano riguardanti nozioni di lessicografia, storia e teoria della traduzione basati sul testo A.A. V.V., L'arte dei dragomanni. Laboratorio di traduzione dall'inglese, Stampatori, Torino 2009. Testo per non frequentanti :Sarah Thorne, Mastering Advanced English Language, Palgrave, New York 2003 (sezioni 1,11,17) oltre al testo in corso di pubblicazione che è comune a frequentanti e non.
Gli studenti appartenenti al “vecchio ordinamento” non dovranno rispondere a domande in inglese di analisi testuale. Quindi i non frequentanti non dovranno prepararsi sul testo Mastering Advanced English Language.
The texts for the translating activities will be provided by the teacher. Students who cannot attend will replace the notes with the following sections of the book Sarah Thorne, Advanced English Language, Palgrave, New York 2003: The Structure of English, The Language of Newspapers, The Language of Politics. The exam will consist in a written translation from English into Italian. They will be also tested on language and translation topics.
Students of the so-called “vecchio ordinamento” will not be asked questions in English on text analysis, so students who cannot attend will not be tested on Mastering Advanced English Language.

Gli studenti del Corso di laurea in Comunicazione interculturale, immatricolati nell’a.a. 2009-2010, sono tenuti ad acquisire 12 cfu con un unico esame, relativo a entrambi i moduli.
Buona conoscenza dell’inglese (B2) v. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages e la frequenza del corso di lettorato, il cui esame finale è necessario per poter sostenere l’esame di Lingua e Traduzione. La frequenza del lettorato non è obbligatoria ma fortemente raccomandata.
Il corso è aperto a tutti, ma è rivolto in particolare agli studenti di Comunicazione interculturale
Students should have a good knowledge of the language (B2),see Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, attend the language course and take the relevant final exam in order to be able to take the exam of the translation course. Attending the language course is not compulsory but highly recommended.- Oggetto:
