Obiettivi formativi
Il corso intende introdurre lo studente a una conoscenza più approfondita dell’epigrafia greca, con sperimentazione diretta sui testi. Dopo una prima parte introduttiva, il corso assumerà carattere di seminario e a ciascun studente sarà affidata l’edizione, con commento epigrafico e storico, di un’iscrizione.
The course will introduce the students to a deeper knowledge of Greek epigraphy and to a direct experimentation with the texts. After an initial introduction, the course will take on the character of the seminar and each student will be entrusted with the edition and the epigraphic and historical commentary of an inscription.

Programma
Gli studenti dovranno esercitarsi su alcuni documenti epigrafici ateniesi, in particolar modo decreti, attraverso i quali la polis attica impostò la sua politica estera nel periodo della massima potenza imperialistica, corrispondente al V-IV secolo a. C., e inoltre ancora, con mutati obiettivi, nell’età successiva dell’ellenismo. Il documento epigrafico sarà letto e commentato innanzitutto come fonte specialistica, con le proprie caratteristiche testuali e metodologiche, e in secondo luogo come fonte per conoscere dall’interno e senza mediazioni la città di Atene e il demos degli Ateniesi.
I testi per l’esame saranno distribuiti all’inizio delle lezioni. Il corso avrà carattere seminariale. Il programma d’esame comprende anche la preparazione del volume:

Students will practice on some athenian inscriptions, especially decrees, by which the Attic polis outlined its foreign policy in the period of its greatest imperialist power, corresponding to the V-IV century BC C., but also in the next age of Hellenism. The epigraphic document will be read and commented on first as a technical source, with its own methodological and textual features, and secondly as a source to learn from within and without mediation the city of Athens and the Athenian demos.
